Joanie almost missed the last of 3 trains along with our friend Maya. This was the one going into our final destination Hiroshima. We had maybe 3 minutes to spare. This is of course on a transit system that follows it's exact departure time without fail. It also arrives precisely on time. If they say 10:39 it will be 10:39, not a minute before or after. AMAZING. But yeah.. deadly freightening to be missing one, especially when the trip is about an hour and a half.
So yeah, we saw the Atomic Bomb Dome. It used to be the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall. Now it stands as a scorched reminder of that day in 1945 of Little Boy. It's quite astounding, emotional, and one of the craziest things I've ever seen in my life.
A flame is burning nearby. It is only to be extinguished when the final atomic weapon has been destroyed. Crazy.
Anyhow, it's definitely time for bed. We're up and out early tomorrow to go to Miajima and then we'll be coming back to Hiroshima to explore a little more. Again, sorry no pictures, I'll post in a couple more days when I can do a proper blog.
Love you all.
Goodnight from Hiroshima, Japan.
