So after a not so longish flight we've arrived in Vancouver safe and sound. We've been able to keep ourselves occupied with video games, movies, crosswords and other things like that. Did you know it's officially $5+ for a sandwich during flight. And we overheard $8 for prime rib. We were able to resist the in-flight meals thanks to some snacks we just happened to be carrying. Thanks Mom!
It's really amazing what it's taken to get us to this point, all organized (sort of), and all packed (this is debatable). It's really strange, I'm going the furthest away from home and spent the least time packing. I've never been one to wait to the really last minute but extenuating circumstances happen sometimes. Shane! I'm really sorry about the bread! If I'm ever going to Japan again, I'll make sure to pack some.
So yeah, we're in Vancouver, pretty chill, layed back and the airport is like a sequence of tunnels. We saw an immigration officer on a bike inside riding around. That seems pretty efficient for sure! Flying into the place is amazing to say the absolute least. The rockies have taken a little bit of my heart I'm sure. Right now we're in front of our gate 54. It kind of seems like a magical portal and although the fact that we're going to Japan has set in, it's a little surreal. 3 and a half weeks without work? Can it be done? Really? The terminal here is beautiful, a floating walkway travels the full length of the strip and to one side there is nothing but blue sky, and the other, the massive rockies standing tall off in the distance. I know someday I will return here to visit here, maybe some snowboarding action in the winter.
I've taken a few pictures of myself, my partner in crime and the lovely that says our flight will be leaving at 1:45 pm. We've been up since 6 or so at this point and it's about 3:29 pm Toronto time. I guess we'll be chasing the sun into Japan and arrive there around 4pm as scheduled.
Before I forget, make sure to check out Joanie's blog for the other side of the story.

hey Justin, make sure to keep your eyes open for 'karikakoi' (aka construction fences surrounding the hundreds of constructions sites around Tokyo). Check out pics here:
